Septoplastic is an operation to fix a deviated septum. The septum is a bone and cartilage wall that divides the two nostrils. If the septum is moved to one side of the nasal passage, it is a deviated or “crooked” septum. It may cause respiratory difficulties and reduced ventilation due to nasal airways obstruction, resulting in persistent dry mouth, intensified snoring, poorer resistance to workout, and declining overall standard of living. The air movement into our nose often impacts sense of smell.
The septum is straightened and readjusted in the center of the nose during septoplastic surgery. This technique which require cutting and separating the septum sections until they are reinserted into the corrective position. Septoplastic treatment may also be paired with rhinoplastic technique to reshape, resize or redefine the nose (this is called septorhinoplasty). The physician will enable you to settle on operation to ease your pain and symptoms.
This technique is an efficient method to clear the nasal passages by stratifying the septum, and may be accomplished with or without additional nasal modifications.
Many patients don’t even know how limited their breathing lives are until after operation
Nasal airway operation signs can involve:
- External nasal valve impairment.
- Internal nasal valve impairment
- Septal deviation
- Septal spur formation
- Septal excavation
- Septal shortcomings
- Lower hypertrophy turbinate
- Concha bullosa middle turbinate
- Nasal weight or polyp
