Frequently Asked Questions

Do you plan to undertake rhinoplasty or septoplasty? If you intend on performing it for aesthetic or corrective reasons, you likely have more concerns about nasal surgery to address before you go under the knife.

This is why we have designed this thorough and insightful FAQ for your ease.

What Is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is nasal surgery. This may also be carried out for aesthetic or functional purposes, known as a nose job. Nose abnormalities or imbalances may be repaired with rhinoplasty. A nose may be straightened, shortened, made smaller or thinner. Bumps may also be eliminated and nostrils changed in size or flare.

How Is Rhinoplasty Performed?

The procedure of rhinoplasty may be opened or closed. The open procedure causes a slight incision between both nostrils and overturns the surface of the nose to reveal the cartilage and the bone. The incisions are made within the nostrils in the closed procedure. The procedure selected will decide the scope of your operation.

Is Rhinoplasty Painful?

You will have  anesthesia to render the operation more convenient. There is no discomfort in the operation itself. After the treatment, in the early stages of recovery you can feel some pain. Usually, the effects should be moderated by pain relief that is normally not long required.

What Is Recovery Like After Rhinoplasty?

The healing from rhinoplasty is relatively easy particularly in comparison to other facial operations. It is carried out on an outpatient basis, so that after the treatment you will travel home.

You can feel pain that drugs may effectively manage. You will be sporting a nasal splint to shield the nose during the first week following surgery.
In the earlier part of your rehabilitation, you should experience some bruises. It serves to maintain your head high for at least the first day following the procedure. Usually, splints and incisions are extracted after one week of the procedure.

In about one week following operation, most patients return to work.

How Can Rhinoplasty Improve the Function of My Nose?

While rhinoplasty is sometimes related to cosmetic nose adjustment, it can even be used to enhance nose functionality.

In general, breathing difficulties are induced by a deviated septum or other anatomical abnormality of the nose. The septum is the cartilage within the structure of the nostril. A slight defect triggered by an accident or some spontaneous happening may contribute to ongoing dysfunction. Symptoms cause coughing, sinus, headaches, nose bleeds and sleep issues.

We can fix a deviated septum and clean the airways and improve the nose structure. You can breathe better, soothe stressful effects and make sleep more peaceful.

What Is the Best Age for Rhinoplasty?

Some people ask whether there is a required age or whether you may be too old for nasal operation. Treatment to improve the shape of the nose is best performed at least 18 age . Nasal surgery may occur at the other end of the scale at any time as long as you are healthy.

Many older patients undergo nasal surgery for both aesthetic and breathing purposes. As we mature, nasal cartilage gets weaker and drops in its elastic properties, which elongates and lowers the tip of the nose. This will impact the nasal functionality.

What Is Ethnic Rhinoplasty?

Ethnic Rhinoplasty means corrective nose surgery carried out on non-Caucasians. They may subtly improve ethnic traits, such as a larger nasal foundation, narrow or widened nostrils, a sagging nose tip or even a distinctive nose. Most people who want ethnic rhinoplasty want to boost their nose, not westernize.

Do You Specialize in Revision Rhinoplasty?

Yes, nose surgery is our main specialization, including revision rhinoplasty. Because we perform surgery on so many noses we  also manage difficult cases and revising the surgeries of other surgeons.

Does Removing Internal Splints Hurt?

In rhinoplasty patients, this is normal concern if splint removal is painfull.  Most patients do not report the removing of splint as painfull.

The replacement of external splint does not contribute to any form of pain. When inner splitting is eliminated, patients may experience discomfort and slight frustration.
However it is relatively brief and sometimes accompanied by a sense of relaxation to remove the split.

What Is a Septoplasty?

Septoplastic changes the midline cartilage between the two nasal airways. In patients with impaired ventilation the septum is sometimes diverged. A septoplasty can normally enhance nasal airway and can also assist with looks.

What Is a Filler Rhinoplasty?

Non-surgical filler rhinoplasty  are used to supplement depressions, preserve balance or fix any flaws on the nose by injectable fillers like Juvederm and Restylane. The findings are not continuous.
